Welcome to our Nursery

Busy Bees Alton Children’s Day Nursery in Alton

Busy Bees Alton is an independent, friendly pre-school providing flexible, high quality care for children from 2 years to reception age. Our lovely situation and Hawkins HQ building, Chawton Park Road in the Whitedown area of Alton, Hampshire makes us ideal for children all over Alton and its surrounding villages.

Situated within a residential area, in walking distance to local schools, we have a large car park at the front and a large, enclosed garden backing onto the Watercress Line.

Our premises are on one level, and we have lots of space for a varying array of play activities, both inside and out, promoting curiosity and exploration.

Our Approach

We provide a safe and happy place for children to play, explore and learn.

We want children to develop a love of learning during their early years and we take pride in providing them play activities to develop skills to learn and grow at their own pace, preparing them for their eventual transition to school.

We make the most of the outdoor learning opportunities and aim to spend as much time as possible outside come rain or shine!

Happy Children

Children love new challenges, trying new things, making new friends, learning new skills, and receiving positive feedback from those around them. We want all our children to be empowered, to be challenged, be praised and above all to be happy!

We also want parents to have confidence in both their children’s well-being and their role as active partners within our preschool. We aim to make Busy Bees a welcoming place where children settle quickly and easily because consideration has been given to the individual needs and circumstances of children and their families.

Each child will have the support of an allocated key person to pay special attention to their care needs.

Our Team

We are committed to providing the very best care and play opportunities for all our children, and we could not do this without having a friendly, dedicated and qualified team of early years practitioners.

All team members are qualified within early years or working towards an early years qualification. We are all regularly trained in safeguarding, first aid and food safety.

Each of us takes part in training linked to our areas of interest such as music and dance, forest school, numeracy, literacy, supporting children’s mental health and those with special educational needs.

We have two qualified SENCo and ELSA’s within the team supporting children and families and working alongside other professionals within the community to meet children’s individual needs

Learning through play is FUN!

Learning in the early years is hugely important but it must be FUN!

That is why we place great importance on learning through play and exploration. Our friendly, safe and secure environment supports your child to develop their full potential and be ready to enter school with confidence.

Your child’s learning and development is supported through play opportunities and experiences. Busy Bees children learn through play, creativity and social interaction with well resourced areas of learning in our spacious indoor and outdoor environments.

Working Together

We value being your partner in the care, education and wellbeing of your child. We believe that the work we do at Busy Bees is much more effective if we can work in partnership with you.

We encourage parent partnership and active parent participation so that children are fully supported through their learning journey. We use an online platform to share photographs of your child’s learning journey, accessible to parents through a password protected profile.

We offer many opportunities for you and your family to be directly involved in preschool activities, welcoming parents and family members to join sessions to share skills such as languages, professions or hobbies.

Our termly newsletters give key dates and information about outings, events and celebrations in an effort to involve the wider family and promote our shared partnership with you.  As well as this website we also have a Facebook page giving updates on activities or events.

Healthy eating

We ask parents to provide a healthy snack, lunch and a water bottle for their child each day. Snack times and lunchtime are a social time at Busy Bees.

Children learn social skills through eating together, sharing together, and helping each other. We encourage positive behaviour and conversation whilst we sit and eat. It is a time when we can promote healthy practices such as hand-washing and encourage independence through activities such as pouring their own drinks and peeling their own fruit etc.
